If you have landed on the Reiki Healing Services page and you are not sure whether to ask for a session, this is for you. It is the answer to the questions the page itself does not have room to answer.
How a session is actually scheduled
You write to us. You say who you are and what the session would be for — usually a sentence or two is enough. We reply within a working day. If a session is appropriate, we propose a time, usually within the same week, and you confirm whether it suits.
You are not asked to be in a particular place. You are not asked to "tune in" beforehand. You do not need any preparation other than a quiet hour during which you will not be interrupted by phone calls or family. If your hour is your morning commute, your office chair after lunch, or the hour just before you sleep, that is fine.
What the recipient does
Nothing.
That is the honest answer. You sit or lie down somewhere comfortable for the duration of the session. You may close your eyes; you may not. You may keep your phone on silent; you may sleep through some or all of it. Many recipients tell us they fell asleep at the start of the hour and woke when it ended. This does not reduce the effect — possibly the opposite.
You do not need to do anything to receive. You only need to have asked. The first of the Reiki rules — water flows only to the thirsty — is the entire mechanism here. Your having asked is what creates the open glass. Once it is open, what is poured into it is not your work.
The kinds of things a session is appropriate for
Reiki distance healing has been used, for the long history of the practice, as a complement to other care for:
- Patterns of stress, sleeplessness, and the kind of low background anxiety that does not have a single named cause.
- Emotional patterns held in the body — old grief, the heaviness that follows a hard year, the irritability that has outlasted the thing that caused it.
- Recovery alongside conventional medical treatment — between surgeries, during prescribed therapies, in the long quiet weeks of rehabilitation. Many of our recipients in this category are people whose doctor has done excellent work and who simply want a settling layer beneath it.
- The transition into and out of major life events — bereavement, marriage, the first weeks of parenthood, the first weeks of a long illness in the family.
The boundaries — read this twice
A Reiki distance session is not medical treatment. It does not diagnose anything, and it does not replace anything your doctor has prescribed. If you are under treatment for a serious physical or mental condition, please continue your treatment. If you are pregnant or undergoing a major medical procedure, please tell your doctor that you have requested a Reiki session and follow their guidance about how to integrate it.
Master Bheem will not, and does not, claim that a session will cure anything. He will say what the lineage has always said: that the practice is a complement, that it works on what is open to be worked on, and that what comes of it depends on the consistency of the receiver and the cleanliness of the field — not on the practitioner's promises.
What you may notice
The most common report after a first session is that the recipient slept unusually well that night. The second most common is that something they had been worrying about all week felt smaller the following morning — not gone, but smaller, and more workable. The third is that nothing in particular felt different at all, and then a week later they realised they had been calmer than usual without noticing.
The fourth — the rarest — is a vivid emotional release during the session itself. If it happens, sit with it. There is nothing to do.
The exchange
Even free or pro bono sessions are not, in the lineage's sense, free. Master Bheem will usually ask you to do one specific kind act for someone else within the week that follows. Feed a stray. Give your time to a sibling who is having a hard year. Hold the lift for the woman with the pram. The act is yours to choose. The point is only that the loop closes — that something is given back into the field in return for what was sent to you.
That is the entire first hour of distance healing. If it sounds like something you would like to ask for, write to us. The page has the address.
